Redress for Historical Institutional Abuse is for people who experiencedphysical, emotional or psychological abuse and/or neglect as children ininstitutional settings in Victoria before 1990.  This differs from the National Redress Schemeas the focus is on non-sexual harm in care, exclusively in Victoria.  

To be eligible, you need to have lived in a Victorian institution as achild for at least 6 months before 1 January 1990.

People who apply and are found eligible will be offered:

·      a payment of upto $20,000  

·      a personalacknowledgement or apology  

·      up to 20counselling sessions.  

Open Place isfunded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to help people apply.
